Fernando Colondres, MSW:

 

Fernando earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Education from the University of Washington in 2007.  He also has a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Washington with a focus on children, youth, and families. His experience in the field includes working as a Bilingual Family Support Advocate for Tacoma Public Schools helping Latino/bilingual/migrant families navigate the school system and to empower them to become involved in their children’s school.  He also has experience working with the Veterans Administration (VA) in homeless outreach and housing, assisting homeless veterans with housing and employment needs as well as helping them with an array of mental health issues. 

 

Fernando is capable of working with most populations and with a variety of issues currently requiring our focus, including gay/lesbian issues.  Fernando’s approach is client-centered which first includes listening with compassion and understanding to the client, then using his therapeutic skills in order to meet the client’s needs.
